As of September 1 2008, the VDE Testing and Certification Institute in Offenbach has acquired the Rapid Environmental Lab (REAL) from Motorola.

The VDE Testing and Certification Institute offers comprehensive and valuable services in the area of testing and certification of electrical and electronic appliances, components and systems.

By acquiring REAL, the VDE Institute integrates a well recognized and experienced laboratory in the field of environmental testing. Since the whole REAL staff moved with the laboratory from Motorola to the VDE, the high quality testing service remains unchanged also in the future.

In addition to the existing PAH testing services VDE is now able to provide material evaluation regarding regulatory requirements (e. g. RoHS) as well as the compilation of material declarations. Moreover, recycling properties of products will be evaluated (WEEE) and the carbon footprint (LCA) of products will be offered.

The laboratory is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. Thus we are one of the very few laboratories in the world, which are accredited for performing RoHS electronic materials testing according to IEC 62321 global RoHS test standard.
